Hightail Rescue, is committed to saving horses from slaughter, abuse, and neglect; nursing them back to health; and finding them forever homes where they will be truly loved. We are dedicated not only to do these things, but also to educating people about the way horses think, horse care, and proper horse handling.
Hightail Rescue, located in Hawley, Minnesota, is made up of a team of highly devoted people who are dedicated to making the world a better place for animals. We do this
Let us explain. The most obvious way to help starved and abused horses is to get them back into health... unfortunately, that's where some rescues stop. We strive to go farther. In addition to conventional medicine, we use a vast array of wholistic healing modalities to help our horses (and sometimes the people who work with them) heal from life's experiences. Some of the tools we work with are homeopathy, flower essences, essential oils, chiropractic care, massage, energetic healing, animal communication, and the list goes on...
We work to help our horses overcome the emotional issues that are the result of abuse. When people think of horse training, they think of a trainer forcing a horse to do something. This doesn't have to be so! We use natural horse training methods that instead of using brute force, strive to understand the horse's mind and work with the horse. While we're not afraid to correct a disrespectful or dangerous horse, we make every effort to do it with compassion and fairness in mind.
And a final important part of our mission here is to educate our community and world about how horses think and why they do the things that they do. This means that we will be addressing the cause of abuse and neglect, not just the symptoms.
With the combination of these three elements, we are making a difference in hundreds of horses' and peoples' lives each year.
